Vocal Point-Andy Keener

Wycliffe Bible translators note, “Bible translation is saving endangered languages from extinction, a problem that the U.N. called special attention to by declaring 2019 the ‘Year of Indigenous Languages’….In order to translate the Bible, Wycliffe’s missionaries must invent an alphabet, preserving the language in the process. For example, Wycliffe’s 1000th Bible translation saved the Keliko language in Africa in this way.” Andy Keener is the Senior Director of Global Partnerships for Wycliffe Bible Translators USA. He worked for a while in the Panamanian jungle to translate the Bible into a then-unwritten language. Andy Keener joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss the work of Bible translation—and what is yet to be done. www.wycliffe.org
