George Washington Turned Down Being a King

The photo is of Dr. Peter Lillback and Jerry Newcombe at George Washington’s home, Mt. Vernon (2004, for research on their book on Washington’s faith). Lillback and Newcombe wrote what became a bestseller, George Washington’s Sacred Fire (2006).

George Washington had the opportunity to become king—but instead, he chose to be a great servant-leader. To learn about this, see the piece produced by Jerry Newcombe, which begins about halfway (15 minutes in) from the beginning in this video of Truths that Transform, produced by D. James Kennedy Ministries, hosted by Dr. Frank Wright.
