Recently, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) settled out of court and paid a $3.375 million dollar settlement with a Muslim group that the SPLC had maligned as a “hate” group. Abraham Hamilton III works for a supposed “hate group” (as defined by the SPLC), as does Jerry Newcombe. The SPLC has slandered dozens of pro-family groups as supposedly “hate groups” on their influential “Hate Map.” Conservative groups, such as D. James Kennedy Ministries (Jerry Newcombe’s full-time employer) or the American Family Association (AFA), Abraham Hamilton’s employer, have been saying for years that it is reckless and irresponsible for the SPLC to say that those groups with which they disagree are supposedly “haters.” In August 2012, such allegations led to direct violence at the Family Research Council. Abraham Hamilton III, General Counsel and Public Policy Analyst and talk host for the AFA, joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss the recent story involving the SPLC.
