Topic: The Liberty Tree

Beginning in 1765, in Boston, some American colonists were beginning to dissent from taxes that Mother England was imposing on the Americans, without the colonists consent. Some of these patriots met under a large tree, dubbed the Liberty Tree. This was the beginning of an interesting history of a fascinating symbol of America—the Liberty Tree. Dr. Peter Lillback, the founding president of Providence Forum, co-wrote a book with Jerry Newcombe that became a best-seller,George Washington’s Sacred Fire. Dr. Peter Lillback joins Jerry Newcombe, D. Min., the executive director of the Providence Forum, for another in the series of Lillback-Newcombe Conversations on America’s Judeo-Christian roots. This particular episode focuses on the Liberty Tree—in past and in present. www.providenceforum.org
