A recent series on Netflix called “13 Reasons Why” deals with suicide among high schoolers and contains a “graphic suicide scene of a high school-aged character.” Tim Winter, president of the Parents Television Council, says, “The impact was powerful and intense: millions of children watched; the Google search term for how to commit suicide spiked 26 percent; and there were news reports of children literally taking their own lives after the series was released.” The Parents Television Council President offers some recommendations in reference to this. Tim Winter joins Jerry Newcombe to talk about how Netflix “should allow filtering, price breaks, for parents” in light of this series. www.parentstv.org
