Vocal Point-Steve Moore

Steve Moore

Topic: Drug Prices/ the Economy

Economist Steve Moore who has worked for both President Trump and President Reagan wrote an op-ed recently on the issue of drug-pricing. He argues that while price controls for prescription drugs may sound like a good idea, they are counter-productive in the long run. Moore observes, “In the case of prescription drugs, price controls remove the incentive for firms to innovate and develop new and better drugs. The U.S. leads the world in pharmaceutical innovation. Price controls, if they delay the introduction of new drugs, would therefore be detrimental to the race for the cure of deadly and painful diseases — from cancer to MS to Alzheimers — that benefit Americans and billions of people around the world.” Steve Moore joins Jerry Newcombe on Vocal Point to discuss this issue. www.freedomworks.org
